Introducing meta Smart Glasses in Our Office

We’re excited to introduce the possibility of using Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses as a tool that may help people with vision impairment become more independent in their daily lives.

While these glasses are not a medical device and do not restore vision, they can provide valuable assistance by using built-in cameras, microphones, speakers, and AI to help users. 
 

Features Include:
Recognize and describe their surroundings.
Read signs, menus, labels, and printed documents aloud.
Identify everyday objects.
Receive turn-by-turn navigation with voice guidance (when used with a compatible smartphone and supported apps).
Make hands-free phone calls and send messages.
Capture photos and videos using voice commands.

For individuals with low vision, these features can make everyday activities—such as shopping, traveling, finding entrances, or reading information—more accessible and confidence-building.

As your eye care provider, we’re happy to demonstrate how this technology works, discuss whether it’s appropriate for your visual needs, and help you incorporate it alongside other low vision aids. Technology like AI-powered smart glasses is not a replacement for traditional low vision rehabilitation, but it can be a valuable addition to help people navigate the world more independently.
